Summer Fun That Keeps You Cool
The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and there’s no more denying it: summer is here, and it’ll be here to stay for a little while! If that thought doesn’t quite fill you with joy, and all you can think about are blistering temperatures, nonstop sweat, and frizzy hair, you’ve come to the right place.
It might not be easy to escape summer (especially on a budget), but there are plenty of ways to enjoy it despite the parts that can sometimes make it miserable. So read on for a few ideas of how you can spend the next few months enjoying the season instead of dreading it.

Try a stay-cation to enjoy the weather.
You don’t have to go through the ordeal of visiting the beach to have a little time in the sun. If you’ve got a backyard, balcony, or patio, set up a chair with a tasty drink and your current read and enjoy the outdoors for a few hours! No sand in your hair, no noisy crowds, and no long drives necessary.
Remember to prepare for the sun: sit in the shade if you can, wear sunscreen, and grab a sunhat and sunglasses to keep yourself safe and comfortable.

Summer isn’t all about getting sweaty. It’s the season for loads of fun events, festivals, and markets, so find out what’s going on locally!
Start with your town or city, then move outwards. Do up a calendar full of events that sound like they’re your speed – anything from a farmer’s market to a music festival to a parade. Whatever floats your boat and sounds like a good way to enjoy the weather, all you have to do is show up!
It’s patio season, so check out some restaurants!
Your patio doesn’t have to be the only one seeing action this season. Grab some friends and check out a new restaurant – preferably one with outdoor seating. Whether you’re looking for brunch, drinks, or an early dinner, the chance to have a bite to eat outside is a great way to unwind and have a fun evening.
Looking for something more casual? Visit a local park. Pack a few snacks (or a whole picnic if you’re feeling ambitious), find a shady spot, and settle down to people-watch.
Sometimes, you just have to go where the AC is.

There’s no shame in taking some time to cool off! If you want to get out of the house but don’t want to give up the sweet relief of air conditioning, check out some options for indoor activities that’ll keep you cool.
Low-energy options include art galleries, museums, and malls! Check out local activity options like art classes, yoga, or creative workshops to get out of the house and keep yourself busy. And don’t be afraid to grab some friends to bring along, or mak
e it a family outing – everybody could benefit from a little field trip now and again.

Remember: any season is what you make of it, so take some time to figure out what there is to enjoy about the summer! Even if you can’t stand the heat and are counting down the days until fall, there’s plenty of ways to keep yourself happy (and busy!) until then.
